Fast food is the term given to food that can be prepared and served very quickly. While any meal with low preparation time can be considered to be fast food, typically the term refers to food sold in a restaurant or store with low quality preparation and served to the customer in a packaged form for take-out/take-away. The term "fast food" was recognized in a dictionary by Merriam–Webster in 1951. l,b.

Outlets may be stands or kiosks, which may provide no shelter or seating, or fast food restaurants (also known as quick service restaurants). Franchise operations which are part of restaurant chains have standardized foodstuffs shipped to each restaurant from central locations.

The capital requirements involved in opening up a fast food restaurant are relatively low. Restaurants with much higher sit-in ratios, where customers tend to sit and have their orders brought to them in a seemingly more upscale atmosphere, may be known in some areas as fast casual restaurants.

How do you avoid fast food and get rid of the cravings?
Q. I go to the gym for 2 hrs/day but have been going to a fast food restaurant daily so haven't been losing weight on the scale. I hate cooking and have cravings. Any suggestions?

A. The best advise I can give you is to stay OFF of the scale, and believe it our not cut back on the gym by 30min or so 1 hour or 1 1/2 hours is plenty. and If you go on the scale continuously you will not see any lose in weight. Also a very good tip which you probably do NOT follow is to eat breakfast Breakfast is exacly what it is spelled out to be Break Fast A fast is a long period without food and once you get food it stores it as fat so if eat earlier even something fairly small it breaks the fast so all the food you eat later is not stored as fat. 1 more thing you should learn to like cooking unless you can afford a personal chief, Nobody actually hates cooking they get bored waiting when they have something they like… [cont.]

What items on a typical fast food menu carry the most calories?
Q. For instance, a large chocolate milkshake at McDonald's has a whopping 1000+ calories, making it their most high-calorie menu item. I was wondering what has the most calories from other restaurants/fast food joints.

A. Look into the book "Eat This, Not That". It breaks down the best and worst foods at all chain restaurants. It even gives you a breakdown and comparison of different things at your grocery store. For example, a Big Mac is not nearly as bad for you as a Whopper. It's a good bathroom book!

How do I get the "fast food" smell out of my work clothes?
Q. I work in fast food and I have to wash my two shirts several times a week. The smell of frying vegetable oil and meat seeps into my clothes, so that the shirts always smell like fries. I can't wash my work clothes with anything else. I'd like to be able to find something that would help reduce the smell.

A. Just add 1 cup of baking soda to your wash water and that should take care of the problem. You may need more for especially tough odors, but start with 1 cup.
