Q. what is the best place to get the Chicken Soup for The Dog Lover's Soul dog food. i have a petsmart and a petco in my area and i have never seen it there and to big bum check this out go down to the ingredients section and find out all the fillers u have been feeding ur dog

A. This is a great question and you should do your research very carefully! Everyone is going to have their opinion but that does not mean it is the right food for your dog. I just lost my seven year old German Shephard to cancer and that is when I went searching for the cause. I came across a website on the internet that shocked me into disbelief that I probably had poisoned my dog to death and didn't even know it. Most dog foods are loaded with hidden poisons and other obsenities I still have a hard time grasping. I am going to give you the website address so you can read this report and learn what is really in commercial dog foods and you can make an educated decision like I did on which dog food to buy! How do you make homemade dog food?
Q. I am pretty satisfied with commercial dog food and I have no problem sticking with it, but I would just like to know how to make nutritional homemade dog food. My dogs are a golden retriever, beagle, and dachshund if that information is needed. I would like advice also, like what supplements to put in the food, and the right portions, and a professional website would be the best. Canines in the wild who eat bones have the benefit of consuming hair and hide too, which have been found to pad the bone fragments and aid in their passing. Other foods to avoid that are dangerous for dogs are chocolate, avocados, mushrooms, macadamia nuts, grapes, raisins, onions, and garlic. Q. We are having a hard time finding a top-quality dog food in the stores. I'd hate to have to mail-order our dog food with such high prices on fuel right now. Does anyone have any recommendations on a pet store chain that actually carries good quality dog food? Petco just doesn't have anything good. A. A median priced food that was not on the recall lists with the melamine etc. is Nature's Recipe which does not have corn, wheat, soy or artificial dyes. Also doesn't have BHA or BHT and is readily available in large Pet Stores like PetSmart or PetCo. Most other brands sold there have been in multiple recalls for both dry and wet. Beneful wasn't recalled, but it has lots of junk in it, allergy causing product. Avoid foods that list wheat, corn or soy in their ingredients. When you change food, do it gradually over a week and a half or so. Start feeding the old food (3/4) with 1/4 new food for a few days and if tolerated well, then give 1/2 old and 1/2 new- same progression then 3/4 new and 1/4 old then all new. Q. I have heard that you should feed your dog dry food, because it keeps their teeth strong (not sure if this is true). A. "Purina ONE Sensitive Systems" is what I use for my Old English Sheepdog (they have puppy and adult versions of this product). Q. I have two semi large dogs. I have been feeding them Beneful dog food for as long as I have had them. I have had my oldest dog for nearly 2 years and the other over a year. Q. I have two semi large dogs. I have been feeding them Beneful dog food for as long as I have had them. I have had my oldest dog for nearly 2 years and the other over a year. However, they dont seem to be getting the nutrients that they need from this dog food. Are there any others that I could try giving them? Please help as I dont know what other kind to buy. I have tried a few other brands of dog food but they dont eat it. I appreciate your help.

What is the best brand of dog food for small breeds?
Q. Before I adopt a dog, I want to know which brand of food I should consider getting it. Preferably dry dog food, but if you know good wet ones, feel free to recommend. --- What do you feed your small dog(s)? How much does the food cost? What is the quantity bought? (# lbs.) If you give your dog several brands; in what order would you rate each's quality? How much does the amount you buy last? A month, two months, 2 weeks?

What is a great dog food for my dog with a sensitive stomach?
Q. He is healthy and young Pomeranian(1 yr), but he either diarrhea or vomits up most everything he eats. I have changes dog foods many times, which I really don't want to do anymore, I know that is not good for him either. Also I have tried making him food, like eggs/ham/rice...and that seemed to agree with him a little more, but not great. I just need a great healthy preferably softer dry food that is good for him! thanks!

A. When my whippet has soft stools I cut back his food to let him recover from what ever bug he has and only feed him small amounts of either boiled rice with natural yogurt, or some scrambled eggs cooked in very little oil and if I have some chicken in the fridge I boil that and shred it and serve that with some boiled rice/pasta. But the trick is not to feed a dog with diarrhea too much in fact the vet would suggest you starve him during the day. Good luck!

How can i make my own dog food- and save $ doing it?
Q. I have a 55 lb Flat Coated Retriever (black lab type dog). I really would like to make homemade dog food for her to save some money and to get her away from eating commercial dog food. Do you have any links to dog food recipes, any tips, do you make your own dog food, etc... I don't have a large freezer to store things in, but I was thinking about it and I Really want to try making her dog food. Let me know if you can help me out with it!

A. yes! Here is a website that will give you recipes for dog food: I personally love to make my dog treats! They are great for training, and they break easily into pieces for smaller dogs! Dog treat: Ground up dog food. half a cup Crumble in vegetables like carrots and celery. one fourth cup add a small amount of flour add milk or water, whatever you like best also add a small amount of peanut butter for color and taste mix and combine until you have a gooey substance, but on the wetter side. Roll out and use small cookie cutters to cut out the dog treats. Put them in the oven at 350 degrees and bake for awhile, until they look about done. Let them sit, because they will harden later. Q. I heard that dog food with corn in is bad for dogs. And they recommeded all bran cereal, but she won't eat. And canned pumpkin,she will eat. And our dog always has to have her glands cleaned out, or expressed. She is always scooting and have to go to vet.

Your best bet is to actually have them surgically removed and this will eliminate the cause of all the scooting and the trips to the vet to have them expressed. As for the fiber, just go to the store and check all the labels. Dog food labels have fiber content on them.

A. You could try feeding raw if the thought of raw animal carcasses don't put you off. It is much cheaper than feeding commerical dog food and you know exactly what the dog is getting. Hopefully somebody will provide some links.
