With the advent of processed foods in the second half of the 20th century, many more additives have been introduced, of both natural and artificial origin. From Wikipedia under the

Not all additives are bad. For instance Annatto is often used to colour cheese and has an e number (E160B) but is a completely natural spice that you can buy on its own for culinary purposes - its common to Mexican, Caribbean, Latin American and Filipino cooking and prized for its nutmeggy peppery taste. Turmeric is another example (usually E100) and there is currently a debate about the fact that some evidence exists that it can prevent bowel cancer. Too read more about these spices see the source. Q. Come someone tell me, or provide me with a good resource on which food colourings/additives affect a child's behaviour? I've noticed a dramatic change in my 3 year old son's behaviour (whom I suspect may have ADHD) when I stopped giving him his multi-vitamins and foods with alot of artificial colouring, but I'm not sure which foods/colours I should be actually avoiding. Thanks in advance! Rhonda, thank you for your insight, but a search on how food additive affect behaviour brings up alot of links on ADHD as well.
