Seafood is any sea animal or plant that is served as food and eaten by humans. Seafoods include seawater animals, such as fish and shellfish (including molluscs and crustaceans). By extension, in North America although not generally in the United Kingdom, the term seafood is also applied to similar animals from fresh water and all edible aquatic animals are collectively referred to as seafood.

Edible seaweeds are also seafood, and are widely eaten around the world, especially in Asia. See the category of sea vegetables.

The harvesting of wild seafood is known as fishing and the cultivation and farming of seafood is known as aquaculture, mariculture, or in the case of fish, fish farming. Seafood is distinguished from meat, although it is still animal and is excluded in a vegetarian diet. Seafood is an important source of protein in many diets around the world, especially in coastal areas.

If someone is allergic to milk and seafood what can they eat?
Q. I met a really sweet girl who told me she was allergic to seafood and milk. I would like to take her out to, or make her dinner, but what could I make or what type of restraunt would be best. Thank you for all help.

A. Good suggestions above but just a note. Milk--soy milk is fine. Stay away from breads, they contain milk (some rye breads fo not contain milk). Stay away from butter and margarine, contains milk. She would know what she can eat best. Unless it is a surprise, get her input on the food types and restrauant she can get a meal that she would have no problem with.

Quick, healthy, non seafood recipes for the work week?
Q. I need some yummy, healthy recipes that I can whip together during the work week. The issue: no fish or seafood. Help!

A. Lettuce wraps are good and fast--chop some chicken breast and saute w/ teriyaki sauce, then put in lettuce cups with shredded carrots, green onions, water chestnuts and anything else you like, yum! Also, spaghetti and meatballs--I use whole wheat spaghetti and turkey meatballs. You can make your own or buy frozen and simmer them in sauce while the pasta is cooking--SO fast and easy. You can also make frozen ravioli in less than 10-15 minutes--boil until done, then throw in a jar of pasta sauce...the heat from the ravioli will heat up the sauce, no need to cook! Baked salsa chicken--pour a jar of salsa over a few chicken breasts and bake for 30-45 minutes (check for doneness). Takes a bit of time but you're not watching it so you can… [cont.]

Does anyone know a recipe for a seafood bake?
Q. I had a delicious meal at a friends house a few years ago and would like to try it out for Good Friday with the family. It was a kind of seafood bake with a creamy tomato sauce finished off with two grilled lobster tails on top, served with rice and salad. Can anyone tell me how to make it?
Asked by Sally W - Thu Apr 5 23:06:00 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. ok so, dont know bout the creamy tomatoe, but. for the sauce, 20g butter 20g flour, in pan cook for 5 mins, stir continuisly. add pint and a half milk, lemon zest, fresh chopped parsley, salt peper, nutmeg. if u want it tomatoey then add 2 tomatoes chooped cook for 6mins then blitz better without tomatoes! for the seafood: scallops and skate go well, salmon and dill, iff u have lobster on top why not crab with cumin: whatever u decide to use just add the sauce to it. then if u are using mash pot pipe it on top bake 30 mins 190! easy, if u are using breadcrumbs then bake open for 20mins then add crumbs and bake further 10mins! hope this essay has helped lol
