Housewife is a term used to describe a married female who is not employed outside of the home. Merriam Webster describes a housewife as a married woman who is in charge of her household.

Housewife is also a term use in the 18th century to refer to sewing kit or mending kit where people usually kept toiletries.

Multicultural norms

In agriculture studies, the word "housewife" is occasionally used to refer to the person who does the majority of the chores within a farm's compound, as opposed to field and livestock work.

2 women sharing a household; how do they work out the homemaking and housekeeping preferences?
Q. It is often said that two women can't be in the same kitchen. (actually my husband and I are like that) Lets say 2 women have raised their families and divorced and are living together (gay or not), any suggestions on how to adjust as both may be set in their ways?

A. Having a policy against accepting a check from someone other than the maker is not a violation of ADA. Having a policy requiring the maker of a check to show identification is not a violation of ADA. The law doesn't specifically say that such policies are a violation and no court will go along with your interpretation. So if you want the ADA to prohibit those policies, write to congress.

How do i cast on in the middle of my knitting?
Q. The pattern says (after 19 rows) to cast on an additional 6, then continue in moss stitch, how can i do this? by the way...this is the pattern i'm following
Asked by Nicole - Fri Jan 15 15:15:03 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments

A. To cast on with knitting already on the needles, you can use the "knit-on," "cable cast-on," or "backwards loop" to put the additional stitches on at the end of a row. See KnittingHelp.com ( ) for instructions and videos on these cast-on methods. To stay in moss stitch pattern after casting on an even number of stitches, continue the pattern as though you had not cast on. To stay in moss stitch after casting on an odd number of stitches, start with the SECOND stitch of the pattern.
