What kind of eating disorder does my child has?
Q. I have a child that eats just about anything. He eats uncooked/cooked items. He eats his regular meals a day, but continues to sneak uncooked/cooked items. He hides them under his bed. Sometimes after he tries the uncooked meat/items he realize they are not good and throws them under his bed. He doesn't care what the food items is, he will eat it. He has eaten everything from raw meats to uncooked pasta, rices, etc...He doesn't seem to get sick from eating these items. He does have Cerebral Palsy and Autism, but no one seems to know what causes him to eat all of these items. In order to keep grocery items in the home we have to have locks on everything. Last week, he broke the locks off the cabinet and the refrigerator to continue… [cont.]

What benefits does eating fruit and vegetables bring to the human body?
Q. I try to be healthy and eat fruit and vegetables, but often I don't eat any, I feed on fast food, beer and other tripe all day but I don't feel or look any different - I don't feel any worse than when I eat healthily. But maybe that is because I am still young. What is the point of eating fruit and veg ?

How do I go from eating fastfood everday to eating healthy?
Q. I'm 18 200 pounds I eat fast food everyday I want to stop that and eat healthy but I'm worried that if I do I won't get that full feeling I get from eating fast food. And then I will keep eating unhealthy.
Asked by ....... - Wed May 12 19:55:33 2010 - - 0 Answers - 0 Comments

A. you can get full from other things than fast food, pasta for example. Something I make a lot at home is whole wheat pasta with veggies with lemon and a little bit of olive oil, my boyfriend and I like it a lot and it is healthy and filling. Also make sure you have healthy foods at home (veggies, fruits, soybeans, almonds, etc) so when you feel like a snack you dont go out and get fast food. Oatmeal is another healthy food that fills you up. In general try to eat slower and pay attention to when your body is saying "I'm full!" and remember you don't have to be stuffed to the max. Hope this helps!

How does eating disorder treatment work?
Q. I am going to start seeing an eating disorder specialist next week and eventually do a partial hospitalization program possibly. How hard is it to recover from anorexia or an eating disorder not otherwise specified (EDNOS)? Does the therapy really help? What exactly happens in treatment that helps? Do they make you force yourself to eat?
Asked by Future Teacher - Thu Mar 19 18:23:47 2009 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Yes, eating disorder treament does work! I used to be bulimic, but I had to go through treatment... it REALLY helped. But you have to get in the right mindset, you know? You need to want to get better. They don't force you to eat. They explore why you aren't eating, and encourage you to find other ways to deal with stress. And um no, they don't "guilt" you.

How do you get a six pack without eating like a bird or a squirrel?
Q. I want to eat damn it. I don't like eating like those men's fitness magazines where they tell you eat 2 spoons of raisins, 1 slice of wheat bread, and 2 spoons of nuts, and a 1/4 glass of orange juice for breakfast. Man, screw that I want to be able to eat like a human not a bird or a squirrel. Somebody give me advice on eating what you want to eat and still having that six pack. I'll hit the gym hard to make up for what I eat is it possible?

How can I get myself to stop eating junk and start eating healthy?
Q. I'm 15 and im at a normal weight and I have a fast metabolism so no matter how much junk I eat I dont gain weight. My problem is that because I have to cook for myself and never feel like cooking, fast food is more convenient for me. I'm kind of a vegitarian so i'm really picky with my meats. I rarely ever get any protein. In a day all I will usually eat is candy and then french fries for dinner and im completly satisfied with that but everyone tells me if I continue to eat that way I'll be lucky to make it to 25. I know I need to eat healthy but I cant stick with that for more then a day. What should I do? I have no one to motivate me and keep me on track of eating healthy so I will give in to junk. I am aware that I make poor choices… [cont.]

A. I used to be like you. I had a lot of junk food everyday and usually ate nothing healthy. Try eating fruits, grains, beans, vegetables and possibly meat if you can. Take multivitamins daily as well. If you can't stand think about your health. That's what I did.

Is eating healthy for the most part overrated?
Q. I have a couple of friends who are solid with muscles. I hang out with these guys all the time. They go to the gym about 3 times a week. But they don't eat like the book would tell you to eat if you want to gain muscles. We eat stuff like Burger King, the local chicken shack , they don't eat fast food everyday but it's not like they stop eating it to maintain the shape. They been like this for 5 years since ive known them. Why is it people tell us to eat a certain way to get a certain shape when you don't really need to. For example the men in jail. Do you really think they on some kinda fancy diet but those guys be huge. Why is that?
Asked by bowen1997 - Tue Apr 3 13:24:24 2007 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Because everyone is different. If i didnt eat clean i would gain more fat the muscle over a set period of time simple fact. Plus once your already at a given size its much much easier to maintain then the process it took to gain it unless of course your geneticly inclined to get bigger faster. Everyone tells you to eat a certain way because that isn't neccasirly the best way but its the most efficent. If you were taking in an excess of calories all of them being clean every ounce give or take a couple pounds would be a solid muscle gain as opposed to any fat, But caloric excess with junk calories is setting yourself up for lots of fat. As far as prison inmates go it comes down to one thing. Recovery ability. They cant do anything in… [cont.]

Is eating your own human placenta for the nutrition and wellbeing of your newborn child a sin?
Q. My mum is traditional chinese, she wanted to cook me up some placenta soup. Apparently an unborn child can survive outside the womb as long as it is attached to the placenta. What a waste of a massive piece of liver-like meat if you don't eat it especially in poverty stricken countries, I heard that eating it prevents your child from all sorts of sickness. When she does eat a full meal she eats fast food. Shes gaining weight because of what she's eating not that she's eating alot. A. You can bring her the information that you have researched. Sharing the information can be fun if you are also interested in eating healthy, so you can share it with her indirectly: showing her your new found interests, and suggest that she really reconsider fast food / junk food diet. Personally as someone who has had a family member that has suffered a stroke from poor diet and no exercise, I urge you to eat healthy and work out every day, including cardio. Make sure you also talk to your physician and dietician to make sure you wont be overdoing it or missing something.

Asked by pr - Thu Oct 23 04:17:44 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Get up and get ready for work or school first. Then start with something small like a bowl of cereal or oatmeal. Eventually, you will get used to the idea of eating in the morning and will start to eat more. Also, if you are eating late at night, that will cause your body to wake up feeling full. If you do not feel a change in your diet after a couple of weeks, see a doctor. You may have bad anxieties or a gastrointestinal problem.

A. Welll... good news is, youll always get what you want!!! So id say go to the store and get a bunch of tasty but healthy foods (fruits, veggies, meats, milk? lol) and wait for Racheal Rays "30 minute meals" to come on! Its fun and surprizing! and just make what she makes! haha if you dont have all the ingrediants then record the show, and if you can record it, record what she did and what she used, then make it the next night! She always stays on the healthy and hearty side ;)

Q. I have recently started to change my eating and exercize habbits to get healthier, but my biggest problem seems to be that I am most hungry in the evenings. I get extremely ravenous even though I will eat breakfast, lunch, and a snack. Eating healthy in the day time is easy for me and I do not struggle with it but at night I fight against the "unhealthy food snack monster" does anyone have any healthy suggestions to help stop this? A. There is nothing wrong with eating in the evening. The common mistake is that people think that because your body is slowing down you should stop eating, but by not eating your body is slowing down anyway. I'm not a dietitian but I've done alot of research into good dieting. I'll start from dinner at about 5pm, you need protein, plenty of vegetables and maybe a little bit of fats, steer clear of trans fats and make your saturated fat intake minimal. After dinner you should be ok for a couple of hours. When you start to get hungry around this time you should eat foods low in starchy carbs such as breads and potato, and eat foods higher in protein. By eating food before about an hour before bed your actually giving your body something to… [cont.]

What would eating 100g of poppy seeds do to you?
Q. I was in the supermarket today and saw them selling bags of poppy seeds, so i was just wondering since you can technically turn them into opium, would they have any sort of effect on you? Also i heard eating a bagel with poppy seeds on it can make you fail a drug test so eating 100g grams of them should do something. Just wondering.

A. Your first answerer was on the right track. Your drug test would come back negative but not for cocaine, rather other opiates, most commonly related test result would be heroin. Other than that, it might make your stomach hurt a little.

What's the difference between eating dogs and eating pigs or chickens?
Q. I have seen this comment many times in the answers justifying Koreans eating dog. My response has always been, "Dogs are pets, but pigs and chickens aren't." What do you think? A. There is no difference between eating dog and eating a cow or a pig. The dogs eaten are raised to be eaten and are not someones pet. People around the world eat many different kinds of meat. Pigs, although not as pleasing to the eye are said to be more intelligent than dogs. I'm sure that these days many Koreans would prefer to eat dog rather than eat American beef. [ o > } [ o

How to get puppy to stop eating things?
Q. I have a 7 month old 8.6 lb. Yorkie/Chihuahua mix. I need to find a way to keep her from eating cloth items. I bought her a blanket and she's eaten holes in it. I bought her a pet bed and she started in on eating that last night. I don't mean chewing and shredding, but actually eating material. I don't buy her soft toys because she chews them all in a matter of minutes. She has 2 kongs and lots of other chew toys. However, she still insists on chewing and eating cloth items. Andy: She did do that with the tennis balls except she ate it instead of leaving traces on the carpet. She's not teething, vet says she has all her adult teeth. Rachel: I tried the Bitter Apple. She likes it.
Asked by J&K's mom - Tue Dec 12 13:25:24 2006 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments

A. My pit does that. We give him lots of soft toys to satisfy that need so he doesn't chew up his bed. If he doesn't have the toys he will shred the couch the bed anything soft and fluffy. If your dog is actually ingesting it I wouldn't reccomend doing that. You will kill your dog. You just have to put some nasty tasting stuff on it to detour him.
